Saudi National Day, Al-Yawm Al-Watani, is celebrated on 23 September. It marks the unification of the Kingdom in 1932, when King Abdulaziz Al Saud proclaimed the country's present name, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a public holiday. Buildings and streets are lit in green, the colour of the national flag, and celebrations include fireworks, air shows, concerts and family events across the country. An official slogan and visual identity are released for each year's celebration.

[STUDENT PERFORMANCE] - A PHOTO IN GREEN4 / 4
Thank you, that was lovely. Before we close, please gather near the stage for a group photograph, flags and green scarves included. After that, the buffet is open and the music continues. Happy National Day, and thank you for celebrating with us.
Red is used only for names, titles, organisations, dates, times and section headings. Replace the words in {curly brackets} with your own details; lines in [SQUARE BRACKETS] are stage directions and are not read aloud.
How to adapt it
- The Saudi flag carries the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith. Never print it on disposable items, use it as a tablecloth or let it touch the ground; green and white decorations are a safe alternative.
- Each National Day has an official slogan and visual identity, released before the celebration. Check this year's before printing invitations, banners or social media posts.
- National Day marks the unification of 1932; Founding Day on 22 February recalls the first Saudi state of 1727. Keep the two clearly apart in your script and programme.
- Ask guests in the invitation to wear something green, and have green scarves or small flags ready for the group photograph in the last card. Collect any flags afterwards rather than leaving them on tables.
Print and rehearse
“Edit and print these cards” opens the script in the free cue card maker, where you can choose A5, 4 × 6 or 3 × 5 inch cards, print several per sheet with cut lines or export PDF, PowerPoint and Word, and rehearse full screen in practice mode. To write your own programme around it, see how to write an MC script and the run of show template.
